CalPERS Receives $249.3 Million From Bank Of America Mortgage-Backed Securities Settlement
The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) has received $249.3 million in damages from Bank of America, the result of a federal investigation settlement announced in August by California Attorney General Kamala Harris.

CBOE Futures Exchange Reports October 2014 Trading Volume
CBOE Futures Exchange, LLC (CFE®) today reported that October 2014 was the busiest month all-time for trading of futures on the CBOE Volatility Index® (VIX® Index). New records were set in monthly average daily volume (ADV) and monthly total volume, as well as for single-day and week-long trading activity.

CBOE Holdings Reports All-Time Record Trading Volume In October
CBOE Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: CBOE) reported today that trading volume for options contracts on Chicago Board Options Exchange® (CBOE®) and C2 Options ExchangeSM (C2SM) and futures contracts on CBOE Futures ExchangeSM (CFE®) set an all-time monthly record of 163.08 million contracts in October. Average daily volume (ADV) was a record 7.09 million contracts, a 29-percent increase from October 2013 and a 37-percent increase from September 2014. The new ADV record surpasses CBOE Holdings’ previous ADV high of 6.65 million contracts in August 2011.

Bio-Rad Laboratories Resolves Foreign Corrupt Practices Act Investigation And Agrees To Pay $14.35 Million Penalty
A California-based medical diagnostics and life sciences manufacturing and sales company, Bio-Rad Laboratories Inc. (Bio-Rad), has agreed to pay a $14.35 million penalty to resolve allegations that it violated the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) by falsifying its books and records and failing to implement adequate internal controls in connection with sales it made in Russia.

OCC: Cybersecurity Assessment General Observations And Statement
Summary
The Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council1 (FFIEC), on behalf of its members, today released the “FFIEC Cybersecurity Assessment General Observations” and the “Cybersecurity Threat and Vulnerability Monitoring and Sharing Statement.” These documents address findings from the 2014 Cybersecurity Assessment pilot examination work program. These documents also encourage regulated financial institutions to participate in the Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC).

Statement Of Assistant Secretary For Economic Policy Karen Dynan For The Treasury Borrowing Advisory Committee (TBAC) Of The Securities Industry And Financial Markets Association (SIFMA)
Economic conditions continued to strengthen in the third quarter, led by healthy private-sector demand. The labor market improved further, with the unemployment rate declining to a six-year low of 5.9 percent in September. A consensus of private-sector forecasters expects the economy to expand at a solid pace through the end of next year amid continued recovery in the labor market, higher household wealth and income, increased lending, and ongoing recovery in the housing market.
