Defining The Scope Of A Consumer Education And Protection Program For The Post-Dodd-Frank World - CFTC Commissioner Scott O’Malia
Good morning. I’d like to welcome you all to the first public meeting to explore how the CFTC should rebuild its consumer education, protection, and outreach program as required by the Dodd-Frank Act. I have organized this meeting today as a way to initiate the dialogue among individuals, organizations, and fellow regulators at the forefront of the most successful financial literacy, education, and outreach programs to advise the Commission as to how to establish a quality consumer education and outreach program. It would be foolish for the Commission to try and attempt to establish a program out of whole cloth without consulting the experts.

Speech By SEC Commissioner Kathleen L. Casey: Statement At SEC Open Meeting: Product Definitions And Regulation Of Mixed Swaps
Thank you, Chairman Schapiro. First, I want to join you in thanking the staff, and particularly the staffs of the Divisions of Trading and Markets and Corporation Finance, for their hard work on this release. While Dodd-Frank's rulemaking burden is a challenge for the Commission generally, joint rulemakings such as this one, which has required many months of coordination and negotiation with the CFTC, are particularly challenging. Today's proposal is a testament to the diligence, expertise, and diplomatic skill of our staff, and I commend them again for their efforts.
