Short Selling Brothers Agree To Pay $14.5 Million To Settle SEC Charges
The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced that two options traders who the agency charged earlier this year with short selling violations have agreed to pay more than $14.5 million to settle the case against them.

Futures Industry SRO Committee Announces Additional Initiatives To Strengthen Safeguards For Customer Segregated Funds
A special committee composed of representatives from the futures industry's self-regulatory organizations (SRO) has proposed additional requirements to SRO rules and regulatory practices designed to strengthen safeguards for customer segregated and secured funds held at the firm. The special committee, formed in January 2012, includes representatives from CME Group, NFA, InterContinental Exchange, Kansas City Board of Trade and the Minneapolis Grain Exchange.

Opening Statement, Thirteenth Open Meeting To Consider Final Rules Pursuant To The Dodd-Frank Act, CFTC Commissioner Jill Sommers
Thank you Mr. Chairman, and thank you to the rulemaking teams for the hard work and diligence in crafting these rules. We have before us today the long-awaited final rules relating to the further definition of “Swap,” the End-User Exception to the Clearing Requirement for Swaps, and the proposed rules relating to the Clearing Exemption for Certain Swaps Entered into by Cooperatives.

CFTC Announces Public Meeting Of The Technology Advisory Committee - Full Committee To Focus On Possible Technological Solutions To Improve Direct Access To Customer Segregated Accounts
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announces that on Thursday, July 26, 2012, the CFTC’s Technology Advisory Committee (the “TAC” or “Committee”) will hold a public meeting at the Commission’s headquarters in Washington, DC from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This meeting will focus on identifying and exploring technological issues and possible solutions relating to the ability of the CFTC, self-regulatory organizations and futures commission merchant (FCM) customers to verify the location and status of funds held in customer segregated accounts.
