BATS Chi-X Europe Extends Interoperable Clearing To Include Exchange Traded Funds - First European Exchange To Offer Participants Greater Clearing Flexibility
BATS Chi-X Europe (BATS), Europe’s leading stock exchange, has extended interoperable clearing to include exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and exchange-traded products (ETPs), as it continues its campaign to address inefficiencies in the European market so as to increase participation and liquidity for all investors and traders. Effective Monday, 21st July 2014, trading participants will be able to select one of three central counterparties (EuroCCP N.V., LCH.Clearnet Ltd, or SIX X-Clear) to clear their trades executed on BATS’ order books. The change, which brings the clearing and settlement treatment of ETFs and ETPs in line with other equity trading activity on BATS, will allow participants to net their ETF/ETP trades executed on BATS with their trades that are executed on other venues.

The July 14 week starts out slow with no data Monday, but quickly picks up speed with all of the major mid-month data released this week except for CPI. Retail sales and the Empire State index will be released Tuesday, followed by PPI and industrial production Wednesday, housing starts and the Philadelphia Fed index Thursday, and leading indicators Friday. In addition, the Fed’s Beige Book will be released Wednesday afternoon.

US Department Of Justice Provides Update On Gameover Zeus And Cryptolocker Disruption
The Justice Department today filed a status report with the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania updating the court on the progress in disrupting the Gameover Zeus botnet and the malicious software known as Cryptolocker. The disruption began in late May, when the Justice Department implemented a series of Court-authorized measures to neutralize Gameover Zeus and Cryptolocker - two of the most sophisticated and destructive forms of malicious software in existence.

CalPERS Statement On Former CEO's Guilty Plea
The California Public Employees' Retirement System today issued the following statement after the Pension Fund's former Chief Executive Officer Fred Buenrostro pled guilty to a federal criminal charge of conspiracy to commit various crimes:
"We condemn the misconduct and ethical breaches admitted today by Mr. Buenrostro. The violation of the sacred trust of our members, employers, and the public can't be tolerated, and that trust must never be compromised."
