TrygVesta A/S was formed in 2002 in connection with Tryg i Danmark smba’s takeover of Nordea’s general insurance activities. TrygVesta goes back to 1731, when its predecessor, Tryg Forsikring A/S, was formed under the name Kjøbenhavns Brand. Vesta was formed in Bergen in 1880. TrygVesta closed the subscription period for private investors already on 5 October due to strong demand. Tryg i Danmark smba, the majority shareholder of Tryg, raised proceeds of DKK 5,681 million (EUR 761 million) from the sale of shares in connection with the flotation, and TrygVesta got approx. 23,000 new shareholders.

The number of companies listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange is thus 179, of which 65 are operating in the banking industry, including TrygVesta.
