The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development EBRD, the developmental arm of the European Union (EU), invited the Egyptian Exchange (EGX)’ chairman, Dr. Mohammad Omran, as a speaker during the bank’s annual meetings that will take place in the Georgian capital (Tbilisi) during the period 14-15 May 2015.
The conference will witness the participation of more than 2000 participants from various countries worldwide, including a number of governmental leaders and the heads of a number of larger companies. The conference will discuss the ways to take advantage of investment and finance as means for development and reconstruction, and will highlight the leading experiences in the infrastructure field, the optimal energy usage and the financial markets’ role in periods of transition to a market economy.
Omran explained that the annual meeting of the Bank includes a discussion panel concerning the future of investment in Egypt, which is an opportunity to review the developments witnessed by the Egyptian economy as well as the latest news about the Egyptian capital market, specially regarding the legislative and regulatory infrastructure updates in order to increase the role played by EGX in financing the development process and its continuing focus on sustainability and societal dimension issues.
Omran said that the bank has a significant role in the development process in Egypt with an investment portfolio exceeding 700 million Euros, stressing that this speech will come through a session dedicated to exhibit the reform steps taken by the Egyptian government in the current period to improve the investment climate and to attract more investments.
