Total number of trading days in May 2012 amounted to 22 days with a total value traded of US$ 5,478.54 million (LE 33,120.53 million). Value traded of the main market amounted to US$ 5,372.71 million (LE 32,480.73 million), of which shares, bonds and funds represented 80.11%, 19.89% and 0%, respectively. Unlisted securities i.e. Over the Counter trading reached US$ 103.08 million (LE 623.16 million), which represents 1.88% of total value traded for the month. Additionally, Nilex has recorded a trading value of US$ 2.75 million (LE 16.64 million) during the month.
This is in comparison to April 2012, when value traded of the main market amounted to US$ 1,830.89 million (LE 11,069.17 million), of which shares represented 63.23%, bonds 36.77% and funds 0%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to US$ 149.53 million (LE 904.05 million), i.e. 7.54% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading), which reached US$ 1,982.54 million (LE 11,986.06 million). Additionally, Nilex has recorded a trading value of US$ 2.12 million (LE 12.84 million) during the month.
Total volume traded of the main market for this month reached 1,795.54 million securities. Meanwhile, the total volume traded of the OTC market has reached 73.31 million securities. Nilex has recorded a trading volume of 4.30 million securities.
During May 2012, 399,079 transactions were concluded with an average of 18,140 trades per day, as opposed to 393,979 transactions and an average of 20,736 trades per day in April 2012.
Indices
EGX 30 index, the official market index, witnessed a decline of 5.23% in May 2012 to reach 4686.42 points and witnessed a YoY decline of 15.15%.
Meanwhile, EGX 70 price index witnessed a decline of 5.55% in May 2012 to reach 408.62 points and witnessed a YoY decline of 37.09%.
Moreover, EGX 100 price index witnessed a decline of 5.95% in May 2012 to reach 732.32 points and witnessed a YoY decline of 27.02%.
Moreover, EGX 20 Capped index witnessed a decline of 8.25% in May 2012 to reach 5339.97 points and witnessed a YoY decline of 12.37%.
Additionally, the Dow Jones EGX Egypt Titans 20 index witnessed a decline of 5.20% in May, to close at 1036.23 points and witnessed a YoY decline of 14.73%.
On the other hand, the S&P/EGX ESG index witnessed a decline of 3.24% in May, to close at 735.89 points and witnessed a YoY decline of 20.50%.

Meanwhile, Market capitalization for the companies listed on Nilex has reached US$ 188.18 million (LE 1.14 billion) at the end of May 2012.
The bond capitalization recorded US$ 798.53 million (LE 4.83 billion) for corporate bonds and US$ 42.28 billion (LE 255.62 billion) for government bonds at the end of May 2012 (Treasury Bonds according to Primary Dealers System). Meanwhile, the market capitalization of the Public Juristic Entities bonds amounted to US$ 827.06 million (LE 5 billion) at the end of May 2012.

Worth mentioning that this month has witnessed the execution of a deal on Egyptian Company for Mobile Services (Mobinil), with a total volume of 93.9 million shares worth LE 19 billion on 27 May 2012.
