The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has made headway in the role as the Greater Mekong Subregion’s (GMS)  connector, highlighting the strong collaboration among GMS capital markets by organizing the Capital Market Academy Greater Mekong Subregion Program (CMA GMS Program), an exclusive training program for top executives in GMS capital markets for the second consecutive year, consisting of Cambodia, the People's Republic of China (PRC, specifically Yunnan Province and Guangxi Zhuang), Lao PDR, Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand, to update information, exchange views and share expertise.

Participated by 60 GMS top-level executives from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Vietnam, the People's Republic of China (PRC, specifically Yunnan Province and Guangxi Zhuang) and Thailand, the program will be held at SET’s Capital Market Academy, Bangkok, during June 24 - July 10, 2016. The contents will cover regional executives in the areas of market regulations, financial and capital markets, media and business sector. Significantly, this year’s program has been well-received and well-attended by top executives from public and private sectors after overwhelm success last year.

SET President Kesara Manchusree said, “To enhance capital market sustainable growth and become a GMS connector in bridging investment opportunities for all countries in the region, SET has arranged the CMA GMS Program to provide valuable insights into GMS economic and national and regional development, from high-level executives from financial and capital market. The synergy of the capital market executives in updating information, exchanging views and sharing expertise will help enhance practical know-how for mutual achievements in investment expansion and opportunities across the region. In addition, the participants will also visit the Thai capital market and leading listed companies.

The opening ceremony’s keynote speech will be delivered by H.E. Dr. Surin Pitsuwan, Thailand’s former Foreign Minister of Thailand and former Secretary-General of ASEAN, on “GMS Outlook: We will grow together,” highlighting GMS’s prominent role and its collaboration to drive prosperity towards sustainability.

With emphasis on education enhancement, SET has launched this GMS exclusive program via CMA, an institution under the SET corporate umbrella. Well-known for the annual training program for Thai top executives from both private and public sectors for over ten years, CMA can become a powerful platform for these executives to exchange views, build network and create substantial benefits for the GMS markets and the global markets as a whole.
