Highlights include:
- European equities continued to strengthen in April; the S&P Europe 350 ended the month with a 2% gain. Returns were led by the U.K; celebrating a fifth consecutive quarter of growth and more than recovering March’s losses.
- Most European sectors performed well as 8 out 10 finished in the black. Information Technology has been having a bad month globally and Europe was no exception (down 4%). Meanwhile Utilities – still up over 10% year to date – reversed trend with a small loss in April.
- GGreece returned to the bond markets with a triumphant issuance of a €3bn five-year; yields fell across the Eurozone - particularly in southern Europe. The S&P Eurozone Sovereign Bond index gained 1.6% on the month.
