The NZX Board today announces the resignation of Nigel Williams as a Director, and the appointment of Alison Gerry to the Board.
Nigel has been a Director of NZX since April 2004, and has contributed enormously in the areas of clearing, risk management and technology, as well as being a member of the Audit Committee for this period.
“I am pleased with NZX's growth and strategic development during my tenure as a Director. In particular, the development of the NZX Clearing House is excellent for the growth of New Zealand’s capital markets, both by reducing market risk but also by allowing the derivatives market and stock lending to develop. These are benefits that cannot be underestimated,” said Nigel Williams.
Andrew Harmos, NZX Chair, said, “Nigel has been a hard working, high impact Director, who has brought a strong infrastructure, risk and global perspective to the NZX Board.”
Nigel has resigned from NZX and other Board positions as a consequence of being promoted to Chief Risk Officer at ANZ in Melbourne. The NZX Board congratulates Nigel on his appointment, and looks forwarding to maintaining its strong relationship with him.
The NZX Board is also pleased to announce the appointment of Alison Gerry as an NZX Director, effective from 2 February 2012.
Alison is a Director of TVNZ, where the focus is increasingly on digital media. She also holds Board roles at Queenstown Airport and Pioneer Generation, which involve the operation of infrastructure, and has a long background in global financial markets, including working at Macquarie Bank and HSBC.
In addition, Alison’s experience as Treasurer of the then listed Lion Nathan, and her directorship of KiwiBank, ensure that she brings a full set of skills, experience and interests to the Board of NZX, whose strategy is focussed on operating and offering an integrated set of information, markets and infrastructure platforms.
“NZX is a critically important New Zealand institution, and I am very pleased to be afforded the opportunity to contribute to its ongoing success in a director role,” said Alison Gerry.
Andrew Harmos said, “Alison's range of experience and skill base will add greatly to the NZX Board, and we are very pleased to welcome her to the NZX team.”
