NYSE Euronext (NYSE Euronext: NYX ) will host a Veterans Day commemoration at the New York Stock Exchange on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008, in honor of America’s veterans and the men and women serving in the U. S. Armed Forces.
The events will begin with a cake-cutting ceremony marking the U.S. Marine Corps’ 233rd birthday, on the Trading Floor beginning at 9:00 a.m.
A two-minute moment of silence will be observed between 9:20 a.m. and 9:22 a.m., “in solemn remembrance of all who have served in the Armed Services of the United States to safeguard our heritage and freedoms.” General James T. Conway, 34th Commandant of the Unites States Marine Corps, will lead this year's moment of silence. Ending the moment of silence, a military bugler will play “Taps.”
