After a volatile week in South African markets, JSE trading figures indicate that a record number of trades were executed on the exchange last Friday. This new record of 290,259 trades is valued at R34.3 billion.
The record breaks the previous trading record of 230,797 trades set on 10 August 2011 by 21%.
“At 21% this represents a significant increase on our previous record of 230,797,” says Leanne Parsons Director of the Equity Market.
The JSE FTSE All Share index rose by 74 points to close at 42,016.
