On 4 February Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych paid a visit to the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE) to learn about the status of co-operation between the WSE and Ukrainian businessmen. Today the first Ukrainian company (Agroliga Group) listed on the NewConnect market. Meanwhile, on 10 February the WSE informed that the first WSE-listed Ukrainian company (Kernel Holding) would be incorporated into the WIG20 index comprising the largest and most traded companies.
Ukrainian WSE-listed companies have met with high interest of the investors trading on the WSE. Already six (6) Ukrainian companies selected the Warsaw Stock Exchange as a financing and secondary trading platform. These include: Agroliga Group, Agroton, Astarta Holding, Kernel Holding, Milkiland and Sadovaya Group. Subsequent Ukrainian companies plan their IPOs on the WSE.
"Ukrainian businessmen have chosen Warsaw. We are pleased that hard our hard work since 2006 when the WSE decided that the Eastern direction would be instrumental for the future of Polish capital market, it is now bringing fruits. Our commitment to the Ukrainian market, supported with activities of some brokerage houses, is generating results" – said Ludwik Sobolewski, the President of WSE Management Board.
Yesterday’s changes in the WSE indices are not limited to Ukrainian companies only.
On 28 February this year the Warsaw Stock Exchange will create a sector for basic materials companies and will start publishing a new subindex - WIG-Basic Materials - that will comprise the following underlying WSE-listed companies:
