The share values of listed exchanges grew by 0.3 per cent during August 2017 recording its tenth positive month.
Half of the 28 exchanges listed on the Mondo Visione Exchanges Index experienced growth in the past month, with the Bulgarian Stock Exchange leading the charge having grown 32.2 per cent in August and 155.4 per cent over the past twelve months, by capital returns in US dollars.
The Index, which aims to reflect market sentiment and is a key indicator of exchanges performance closed at 43,664.31 on 31 August 2017.
Herbie Skeete, Managing Director, Mondo Visione and also Co-founder of the Index said:
"In August, Kenya's Nairobi Securities Exchange was the second best performer by capital returns in US dollars, despite the bourse posting a 6 percent drop in pretax profits for the first half of this year, after a jump in expenses outpaced revenue growth. Following the Kenyan Supreme Court's ruling on the Presidential election results, political uncertainty is likely to impact September's figures."
The FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index worst performer by capital returns in US dollars was India's BSE with a 9.9 per cent decrease in share price from 31 July 2017 to 31 August 2017.
The FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index is compiled by FTSE Group from data based on the share price performance of listed exchanges and trading platforms.
