Today, a bond denominated in Chinese renminbi (CNY) with a listing on SIX Swiss Exchange is tradable at our venue for the first time. The issuer of the CNY 1.25 billion three-year term bond is the China Construction Bank. The bank is one of the leading commercial banks in China, and has already listed a CHF 300 million five-year term bond on SIX Swiss Exchange this year.
"We are very happy that the China Construction Bank has chosen SIX Swiss Exchange as the listing venue for their recent CNY and CHF Bonds", commented Valeria Ceccarelli, Senior Relationship Manager Issuer Relations at SIX Swiss Exchange. "This underlines the appeal of our bond market. Bond issuers on SIX Swiss Exchange can access highly capitalized Swiss and international investors and our services help issuers raise capital efficiently."
"We see a trend of Chinese issuers having their CNY bonds listed on European stock exchanges, accessing the European investor base for international aspirations. Given the return of investor confidence to the currency in recent months, we anticipate this trend to continue and we expect even more Chinese issuers to access the European markets in the future", said Manuel Gadient, Managing Director and Head of Swiss DCM and Syndicate, UBS.
