The Enterprise Data Management Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Mike Meriton as the Head of Commercial Services for the organization. Meriton will be directing the rollout of the suite of products and initiatives associated with the Council’s Data Management Capability Assessment Model (DCAM), the expansion of the Financial Industry Business Ontology (FIBO) and in the extension of the Council’s scope of service offerings across the membership.
Mike Meriton was one of the original founders of the EDM Council, served as its first Board Chair and has been providing leadership to the organization as the Chair of the Finance & Operations Committee of the EDMC Board. Meriton was previously the CEO of GoldenSource Corporation and has held leadership positions at CheckFree (Fiserv), Dun & Bradstreet and Oracle.
“Both the standards work and the best practices initiatives of the Council are now entering their adoption phase and need a focused executive to guide implementation,” said Michael Atkin, Managing Director of the EDM Council. “We have been relying on guidance from Mike Meriton since our formation. His business acumen has been invaluable, and we are delighted to have secured his services as the Council moves forward toward its next phase of development.”
“The EDM Council’s program of work has grown rapidly over the past few years – mirroring the evolution of data management as an important area of focus for financial services,” said Peter Serenita, Chairman of the EDM Council and Group Chief Data Officer for HSBC. “Mike Meriton has extensive knowledge about the data management industry as well as the operations of the Council and is the ideal executive to guide both the standards work and the best practices initiatives of the organization.”
