Deutsche Börse Group, as an internationally leading stock exchange organization, reports on its social and community commitment in the third quarter of 2008. The Group is continuing both its financial and active promotion of education and science, culture, and social affairs. Deutsche Börse provides more detailed information on its commitment at www.deutsche-boerse.com/cr.
Education and science
Deutsche Börse Group is committed to education and science with a particular view to promoting Germany as an economic center.
The company concentrates its efforts on supporting universities, faculties, professorships, and research projects which focus on finance and capital markets, as for example the University of Frankfurt’s House of Finance. Moreover, Deutsche Börse promotes education programs: it organizes the ENGAGE job application workshops for young people. The project involves preparing school pupils as they approach the application process. The ENGAGE job application workshop in Frankfurt is also supported by Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Linklaters LLP, Citigroup and Fidelity International, in addition to Deutsche Börse. For further information on ENGAGE, visit: www.engageyouremployees.org/key-cities/programmes/engage-frankfurt
Culture
Deutsche Börse Group also supports international institutions and projects involved with culture. The focal point of the arts commitment is the promotion of contemporary photography.
The four finalists for the “Deutsche Börse Photography Prize 2009” Paul Graham, Emily Jacir, Tod Papageorge and Taryn Simon have been announced in London on 29 October. The Deutsche Börse Photography Prize is one of the most prestigious international arts awards for contemporary photography; it is awarded annually by the Photographers’ Gallery in London.
Deutsche Börse opened the doors of the Deutsche Börse Art Collection in Luxembourg in September as part of the “Private Art Kirchberg” event. Like “Kunst privat!” in the state of Hesse, the event involves opening corporate art collections to the public once a year.
Social affairs
Deutsche Börse Group believes the capital market and its institutions have a social responsibility to the community. This includes support for social projects focusing on education and vocational training for young people.
Deutsche Börse Group, along with the non-profit organization BÖRSIANER HANDELN and other sponsors, is hosting the “X-Charity 2008” event. The benefit event is to be held on 30 October at the Neue Börse in Frankfurt. The proceeds from this year’s sponsorship are to finance the building of a school with an integrated health station in one of the poorest regions of Romania.
In September, Deutsche Börse lent its support to the “Social Day” project in schools and social organizations in Frankfurt. Subsidiary Clearstream’s charity committee has organized a “Social Day” in Luxembourg for the third time, to be held on 4 November.
