The secretariat of this year's China Plastics Industry Conference (CPIC) said that this year's conference will host a number of international delegations. The director of the secretariat said that with the growing influence of the Dalian Commodity Exchange's CPIC and its growing attraction to China's petrochemical enterprises, the conference has become a key communication platform for the domestic and international petrochemical industry.
According to the 2009 Annual Polyethylene Report published by Chem99.com, global polyethylene production capacity in 2009 was 82.8 million tons, 4 million tons greater than in 2008. Actual production in 2009 was 70 million tons, 3 million tons greater than in 2008. 2009's increased capacity mostly came from China and the Middle East. In recent years, there have been a number of fairly clear changes in the countries exporting polyethylene to China:
First, there have been increasing exports from the Middle East. Iran's 2009 exports of polyethylene to China reached 500,000 tons.
Second, U.S. exports to China have been steadily increasing, reaching 900,000 tons in 2009. American E42002E2?7109M polyethylene is currently delivered in China's futures market, with market acceptance growing higher every year.
Finally, there has been a steep rise in imports from Russia. Russian exports to China primarily consist of LLDPE (linear low-density polyethylene), mainly due to the obvious cost advantages.
