Trading volume at the Dalian Commodity Exchange surpassed 10 million contracts today for the first time. 10,594,110 contracts were traded today totaling CNY 530.54 billion, surpassing the previous record set last week on November 10th when 9,467,960 contracts were traded at the Exchange. Meanwhile, open interest was down 115,278 today to close at 4,333,770.
Corn trading volume hit a new all-time record today as well. 2,628,318 contracts were traded on the exchange totaling CNY 61.48 billion, surpassing the previous record of 2,442,924 contracts traded on November 29th, 2006. The active corn contract finished up nearly 2% today, closing at CNY 2,409 per ton.
No. 1 Soybeans also hit a new record trading volume for 2010 today. 1,116,830 contracts were traded totaling CNY 50.58 billion, surpassing this year's previous record of 1,082,976 contracts traded on November 10th.
