Colt Technology Services’ Asian division today announced that it has won the Best Asian Project at the Global Carrier Awards hosted during the Capacity Europe event in Paris. This award was in recognition of Colt’s DCNet project which demonstrates the benefits that SDN and NFV are bringing to the telecommunications industry. Leveraging these next-generation technologies, Colt has been to tailor a solution that helps better serve Asia’s rapidly growing data centre market.
Launched in Asia in 2014 and in Europe in 2015, DCNet is an advanced data centre interconnection solution, which provides service providers and businesses fast and on-demand access to more than 560 data centres globally. DCNet offers service providers as well as enterprises in data intensive industries – including capital markets, IT/media, and cloud computing – greater choice on where they host their data and with whom they connect. DCNet is well-suited for enterprises relying on cloud computing, DR/BCP, content delivery, on-demand applications, and a host of other remotely-based IT services.
“We are very excited that DCNet has been chosen for this award as it is a testament to the hard work of launching this innovative solution,” said Machifumi Kashiwagi, Vice President of Product Management at Colt. “With exponential growth in the adoption of cloud-based business applications, DCNet delivers the flexibility and simplicity in inter-data centre connectivity that the market is seeking.”
In addition to being awarded the Best Asian Project, Colt also won Global Carrier Awards in the following categories:
- Best voice service innovation – developed market. VoiceYou allows a single caller to instantly and simultaneously reach from one up to an unlimited number of people, directly from the phone.
- Special Recognition Award: Best Strategic Acquisition – The acquisition of KVH in December 2014 – which now operates as part of the Colt brand – allowed Colt to benefit from an improved customer offer, larger presence in faster growth markets and cost and revenue synergies.
Colt was also shortlisted in six Global Carrier categories in total, including Best pan-European wholesale carrier, Best European project and the Special Recognition Award for Corporate Social Responsibility. Capacity’s Global Carrier Awards recognise innovation, vision and excellence across the global and regional wholesale industry.
