The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI), a charity and professional body, welcomes the appointment of Dame Colette Bowe as Chair of the Banking Standards Review Council and looks forward to playing its part in helping the wider banking industry to become more professional.
Simon Culhane, Chartered FCSI, Chief Executive said “The CISI is pleased to see tangible progress being made with the appointment of Dame Colette Bowe as BSRC Chair and a commitment to work with existing Professional Bodies to raise standards overall.
“There is considerable debate about whether bankers can be professionals in the same vein as lawyers, accountants and medical staff. We think they can, but only if they make some structural changes, promote membership of a Professional Body and reward their members for acting with integrity. The BSRC has a major role in encouraging both banks and individuals to upgrade their professionalism.”
