To commemorate the 40th anniversary of Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), CBOE today released "CBOE 40" (http://www.cboeoptionshub.com/cboe40/), a video documentary that chronicles the history of CBOE through interviews with key figures in CBOE's history, including CBOE founder and first president, Joe Sullivan. The video is a fast-paced look behind-the-scenes at events that led to creation of CBOE and the listed option industry, with then-and-now photos.
A dedicated web page features the new video, interviews with former traders, photos and memories from staff and exchange members.
CBOE created listed options when it opened for trading on April 26, 1973. On that day, 911 contracts traded on 16 options listings. In 2012, CBOE trading volume exceeded one billion contracts on more than 3,000 options listings.
"CBOE 40" is one of the many features of CBOE's newly created Options Hub site (www.cboeoptionshub.com), launched earlier this month.
