Total number of listed companies on CASE in December 2005 decreased to 744 companies as opposed to 760 in the previous month.
There were four new listed companies this month with total capitalization of LE 1,160 million.
Turnover
Total number of trading days in December 2005 amounted to 21 days with total value traded of LE 28,406.18 million. Value traded of listed securities amounted to LE 27,372.12 million, of which shares, bonds and funds represented 98.72%, 1.28% and 0.00% respectively. On the other hand, OTC trading reached LE 1,034.06 million, which represents 4% of total value traded for the month.
This is in comparison to November 2005, when value traded of listed securities amounted to LE 14,172.91 million, of which shares represented 96.04%, bonds 3.96% and funds 0.00%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to LE 640.20 million i.e. 4% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading) which reached LE 14,813.11 million.
Total volume traded of listed securities market for this month reached 967.16 million securities.
During December 2005, 818,295 transactions were concluded with an average of 38,966 trades per day, as opposed to 369,566 transactions and an average of 18,478 trades per day in November 2005.
Indices
CASE 30 Price, the official market index, witnessed a 13.95% increase in December 2005 to reach 6324.70 points and witnessed a 146.29% increase on YoY.
However, the MSCI Egypt index witnessed a 13.22% increase in December, to close at 722.09 points on 29/12/2005, and a 155.23% increase on a YoY basis.

During the month of December, the top ten gainers, on the official CASE market, were (in descending order of price change) Egyptian Shipping Transport (+884%), Egyptian Navigation Company (+261%), Acrow Misr (+161%), Six of October Development & Investment (SODIC) (+106%), Telecom Egypt (+92%), Asek Company for Mining (+82%), United Housing & Development (+76%), Amoun (+69%), Arab Cotton Ginning (+68%) and El Nasr Clothes & Textiles (Kabo) (+59%).

Market Capitalization
Total market capitalization of shares amounted to LE 456.28 billion as of end of December 2005 compared to LE 393.75 billion in November 2005, representing a 15.88% increase.
The bond capitalization recorded LE 6.5 billion for corporate bonds and LE 45.9 billion for government bonds at the end of December 2005 (Including Treasury Bonds according to Primary Dealers System).
Foreign Participation
In December 2005, foreign investors participated with 28.19% of the total market value traded with net inflows of portfolio foreign investment totaling LE 2,622 million.
