Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) awarded yesterday evening, during The Inauguration of the Stock Exchange Year private reception, the contributors to the development of the capital market in 2014.
Traditionally, in the first working day of February, Bucharest Stock Exchange is organizing a reception to mark the inauguration of the new stock exchange year. This exquisite event has been a great occasion for Romanian business community to gather and to award persons and institutions which most contributed to the development of the capital market in the previous year. Moreover, Bucharest Stock Exchange uses this gathering as an opportunity to host a charity auction performed by Artmark for the educational and health projects undertaken by the two associations that the Stock Exchange has been supporting throughout the last years – Asociatia OvidiuRO and Fundatia Hospice Casa Sperantei.
Over 500 top representatives of the capital market, financial industry and entrepreneurs joined this exquisite event. With this year’s opening, we have been celebrating Romania, Romanian traditions as well as the potential that Romania has to offer. In 2015, we are focusing on developing the Romanian capital market, on promoting the Romanian economy and Romanian companies within our country and abroad. Thus, were awarded the contributors to the development of the Romanian capital market.
Categories of awards:
- Institutional Investor and Market's Development Agent award to EBRD, as the largest and most active institutional investor in Romania, as well as a promotion pillar for the capital market reform process and the elimination of the capital market barriers.
- Bridge Award on setting avenues between the general economy and the capital market to Coalitia pentru Dezvoltarea Romaniei, for providing in 2014 a cohesive basis for consultation with the Government and other public institutions on topics that impact the business and economic climate in Romania.
- Bridge Award on setting avenues between the general economy and the capital market to the Team of the Department of Energy, Ministry of Energy, SMEs and Business environment, because they professionally and successfully ran national projects, laying down the fundamentals of the synergies between the national economy and the financial sector
- Supporting the Development of Financial Culture award to Stefan Nanu, Chief of Treasury at the Ministry of Public Finances, for developing financial products considering the potential of the individual investors’ community.
- BVB member with highest share in the turnover on BVB equities in 2014 (including offers) award to Raiffeisen Bank.
- BVB member with the highest share in the turnover on BVB equities market in 2014 (without offers) award to Swiss Capital.
- BVB International member with the highest share in turnover and the promotion of the BVB markets in the international market community award to Wood & Company Financial Services, for selling most of Romanian equity abroad and promoted this equity and the markets toward foreign institutional investors, in Europe and US wide.
- BVB members with the most active involvement as Market Makers on shares in 2014 award to Raiffeisen Centrobank AG and Wood & Company Financial Services, as most involved two brokers which offer investors increased access to the market, as measured by the number of equities for which the market making is performed and by the value of trading.
- BVB non-equities financial instruments issuer/animator in 2014 award to Erste Group Bank AG, as the most active issuer of structured products, not only as number, but also as diversity of the underlying.
- BVB member with the highest turnover on bonds in 2014 award to Raiffeisen Bank AG.
- Supporting the BVB projects and international promotion of the market award to BRD-Groupe Societe Generale, as they were involved in all projects for changing the market infrastructure, mainly the separation of trading and post-trading, transition to T+2, represented best practices and international know-how, and sustains good promotion of the infrastructural reform towards the clients.
- The 2014 institutional pillar of the capital market award to Asociatia pentru Pensiile Administrate Privat din Romania (APAPR), as the institutionals of the pension industry were involved in 2014 in the major capital market reform project, to improve investment capabilities of the local market’s participants, all these to put Romania on large investors’ radar.
- 2014 Capital Market Personality of the Year award to Gabriel Dumitrascu, Chief of the Department for Energy in 2014, for his leading role as the planner and executor of transaction that were of importance for the capital market, showing determination, professionalism and capability to reach outstanding results in difficult environment.
