In June 2010, equity markets (Bovespa segment) traded BRL 122.6 billion, in 8,371,028 trades, with daily averages of BRL 5.84 billion and 398,620 trades, in compassion to May, when total volume reached BRL 152.93 billion, in 10,261,145 trades, with daily averages of BRL 7.28 billion and 488,626 trades.
The Ibovespa ended June at 60,935 points, down 3.3% from the previous month. The best performing stocks were: Eletropaulo PNB (+16.75%); Braskem PNA (+16.13%); Lojas Renner ON (+12.64%); Cesp PNB (+12.28%); and Copel PNB (+10.70%). The worst performing stocks were: Vale ON (-12.70%); Vale PNA (-11.59%); Bradespar PN (-11.38%); Fibria ON (-9.69%); and Telemar PN (-9.30%).
Derivatives markets in the BM&F segment (including financial and commodities derivatives) totaled 43,313,807 contracts and BRL 2.87 trillion in volume in June, compared to 52,063,826 contracts and BRL 3.57 trillion in May. The daily average of contracts traded in the derivatives markets in June was 2,062,562 contracts, in contrast to 2,479,230 in May. Open interest contracts ended the last trading day of June with 41,100,845 positions, compared to 38,458,593 in May.
