The Society for Information Management (SIM), the premier network for information technology leaders, recently presented William H. Morgan, executive vice president and chief information officer at the Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX), with the second annual SIM Leadership award.
Mr. Morgan led the design and implementation of an all encompassing Electronic Trading Platform used at the PHLX that created a “one-stop shopping” model for the trading of equity, options and future products resulting in the facilitation of significant business benefits for the nation’s third largest options exchange.
Morgan, who resides in Mount Laurel, N.J., has been a member of the PHLX’s technology management staff since 1982, serving in various technical and managerial capacities including project manager, group manager, assistant vice president and vice president.
Mr. Morgan has received many awards during his career. He was a finalist for the Computerworld Smithsonian Award and has received the Sun Microsystems Stellar Performance Award and the LaSalle University Information Technology Leadership Award. His work has been featured in articles published in Computer World, Information Week, LAN Magazine, Securities Industry News and Wall Street Technology Magazine.
Mr. Morgan is on the LaSalle University Information Management Advisory Board. He serves on the Villanova University CIO Advisory Council, the Society for Information Management (SIM) Board of Directors, the Board of Directors of Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center, Inc. and the Npower CIO Advisory Council. Mr. Morgan has served on the Securities Industry Association (SIA) Year 2000 Steering Committee, Decimal Pricing Steering Committee and Linkage Committee.
He is a graduate of the Securities Industry Institute, sponsored by the SIA at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He is a Magna Cum Laude Graduate of Peirce College in Philadelphia with a degree in computer science.
The SIM Leadership Award is given to SIM members who, through exceptional services, have volunteered their time and have contributed significantly to SIM and the SIM community.
