In line with the Capital Market Authority’s (CMA) direction and the Saudi Stock Exchange’s continuous efforts to enhance transparency in the Saudi stock market and to provide more relevant and detailed market information to all stakeholders, the Saudi Stock Exchange has enhanced its monthly trading activity report to include more in depth information on the different investor types and their trading activities. The report also includes a new breakdown and definition of each investor types, by nationality, with total value and volume traded, stock market ownership value as well as introduces a new category for institutional versus non-institutional investors, with trading activity, as of the report for the period ending August 31st 2015.
The new Investor Type classifications and report content includes the following:
Saudi Individuals have been classified into the following 4 categories:
1. Retail Investors
2. High Net Worth Investors (HNWIs)
3. Individual Professional Investors (IPIs)
4. Individual DPMs
Saudi Institutions have been classified into the following 4 categories:
1. Corporate
2. Mutual Funds
3. Government Related Entities (GREs).
4. Institutional DPMs
GCC investors have been classified into the following 3 categories:
1. Individual Investors
2. Institutional Investors
3. GCC DPMs
Foreign investors have been classified into the following 5 categories:
1. SWAP Holders
2. Foreign Resident Investors
3. Strategic Partners
4. QFIs
5. Foreign DPMs
The report will is divided into the following 4 sections:
1. Value Traded by Nationality and Investor Type
2. Value Traded by Investor Classification
3. Ownership Value by Nationality and Investor Type
4. Ownership by Investor Classification
This new format for the report is intended to provide further transparency with more in depth information on market activity in a detailed manner.
