SET President, Mr. Kittiratt Na-Ranong, said that last year there was a great demand by economists, strategists and regional analysts to take part in the Thailand Focus event. However, in 2004, the emphasis of the event was on bringing institutional investors to meet with listed companies. In response to the demand expressed last year, the organizers are holding a “Thailand Focus 2005 - Strategists” exclusively for them so that these people, who act as intermediaries between investors and listed firms, may meet Thailand’s key economic policy-makers. Main participants will include representatives from the Bank of Thailand, the Board of Investment and the National Economic and Social Development Board. They will also meet Prime Minister Dr. Thaksin Shinawatra, to obtain information directly from him.
“When these people, who are important intermediaries, understand more about our country’s policies and strategies, they can update their information to foreign investors prior to the ‘Thailand Focus 2005’ event. This will enable investors to be continually updated about Thailand,” Mr. Kittiratt added.
Mr. Marco Sucharitkul, President of JP Morgan Securities (Thailand) and President of the Foreign Brokers Club of Thailand, disclosed that: “From surveying the communications from foreign brokers, we found some really good responses. By holding an exclusive event for the economists and strategists, who play an important part in disseminating the information, we are both laying a firm and reliable foundation for investors, as well as updating them in a timelier manner on pertinent information such as on Thailand’s investment policies on mega-projects.
“Furthermore we believe that ‘Thailand Focus 2005 – Strategists’ will help raise the interest level of our targeted audience to participate in ‘Thailand Focus 2005’, to be held in September. This will lead to a more efficient and effective event where investors can meet with Thailand’s leading listed companies and other important corporation.”, he concluded.
