Today, SIX Swiss Exchange published the latest edition of its Bonds Quarterly Statistics[PDF]. The CHF Bonds segment turned over CHF 30.6 billion in the second quarter of 2017, a decrease of 19.6% compared to the previous quarter and of 12.9% compared to the second quarter in the previous year.
Turnover spike in Non-CHF Bonds
Comparing the single months with the previous year shows a similar activity in May, but declining turnover in the months of April and June. However, the segment of Non-CHF Bonds could record excellent figures in the first half of 2017: compared to the same period in 2016, turnover in the first two quarters was up 46.7% to reach EUR 13.6 billion.
More Bonds from Swiss issuers
In Q2, the number of tradeable CHF-Bonds from Swiss issuers rose by 36 to 1'018 compared to Q1, while turnover decreased by 14.4%. In the same period, the number of CHF-Bonds from foreign issuers decreased by 16 to 683 with a drop in turnover by 26.9%.
