The Taiwan Futures Exchange (TAIFEX) was awarded ‘Exchange of the Year’ at the Asia Capital Markets Awards hosted by the Global Investor Group today in Singapore.
The ‘Exchange of the Year’ award recognizes an Asian exchange that has set itself apart from other exchanges on the continent during the past year by acting as a pioneer in the local and global markets across multiple asset classes, as well as through demonstrated excellence in various areas, particularly in product development and international cooperation despite its sufficient liquidity. Winners are selected by a global panel of industry experts on derivatives trading, clearing and settlement. The award is one of the highest achievements in Asia’s capital market industry and is one of the largest buy-side led capital market awards in the region.
The award is the latest international recognition of TAIFEX, which was named the ‘Financial Derivatives Exchange of the Year’ at The Asian Banker Financial Markets Awards earlier this year. As well, the award evidences TAIFEX’ great achievement in taking up to the next level following its winning of the ‘Emerging Exchange of the Year’ at the FOW for Asia in 2016*.
Over the past year, TAIFEX successfully launched a number of new products, including USD/RMB Options, EUR/USD Futures, USD/JPY Futures, and international index futures - S&P500® Futures and DJIA® Futures, following Nifty 50 Futures. On top of that, the exchange also introduced an after-hour trading session and upgraded its trading system, both of which substantially supported the exchange’s product development roadmap, and greatly enhanced the capacity and robustness of Taiwan’s futures trading environment.
Dr. Len-Yu Liu, TAIFEX Chairman, said, “We are delighted to win this prestigious award and to receive the industry’s recognition for our efforts in furthering the development of Taiwan’s futures market and our international competitiveness. We will continue to introduce more products that cater for the evolving need of domestic and international investors, while enhancing our global reach.”
