Today, trading of quality specific natural gas products has been launched on PEGAS, the common platform of European Energy Exchange (EEX) and Powernext. These products, which are traded on the Natural Gas Spot Market of EEX, comprise high-calorific (H-gas) as well as low-calorific natural gas (L-gas) for both German market areas GASPOOL and NetConnect Germany (NCG).
At 2 pm CET today, a volume of 1,728 MWh was traded in the new products. Thereof, 1,704 MWh L-gas have been traded for delivery in the GASPOOL market area and 24 MWh L-gas for delivery in the NCG market area. In total, 33 participants are registered for trading in quality-specific gas products, including EHW Handelsgesellschaft West mbH, Nexus Energie GmbH, RWE Supply & Trading GmbH and Südwestdeutsche StromhandelsGmbH who have already concluded trades in the new products.
The PEGAS platform was launched on 29 May 2013. On this platform, the whole natural gas offering of EEX and Powernext is available for trading, including spot and derivatives products for the market areas GASPOOL, TTF, NCG, PEG Nord and PEG Sud as well as spot products for the market area PEG TIGF. On 28 August 2013, the EEX Spot Market products have been migrated onto PEGAS. From the day of the migration until 30 September 2013, a volume of 7,403,043 MWh has been traded on the EEX Natural Gas Spot Markets. Compared with 3,490,063 MWh in the same period of the previous year, the volume more than doubled.
