Date 11/01/2002

The New York Stock Exchange ("NYSE") announced today that it will continue the trading halt of Enron Corp. (the "Company")-- ticker symbol ENE-- pending further information on the terms of the proposed transaction announced today by the Company regarding its wholesale trading operation. The NYSE notes that the Company's announcement indicated that the related executed documents are expected to be filed on January 14, 2002.

The NYSE also notes that it continues to review the listing status of the Company in light of all recent events, including the fact that the Company has fallen below the NYSE's continued listing criteria relating to: average closing price of a security less than $1.00 over a consecutive 30 trading-day period. The NYSE did not open trading today in the Company's common stock and related securities pending the Company's news release and further evaluation.

The NYSE will continue the trading halt of the Company's common stock and related securities until such time as material information regarding this transaction has been disseminated and the NYSE has been able to complete its related evaluation. Trading may or may not resume as the NYSE may, at any time, suspend a security if it believes continued dealings in the security on the NYSE are not advisable.
