IDEACarbon is part of the IDEAGlobal Group, whose advisory Board includes Mr Ng Kok Song (Managing Director of the GIC, Singapore); Lord Nicholas Stern (Author "The Economics of Climate Change)" , Professor Helmut Schlesinger (former President of the Deutsche Bundesbank), Mr Nitin Desai, (Advisor to the Government of India, former UN Undersecretary General), and Lord Meghnad Desai. Mr Neil Eckert was CEO of the Climate Exchange plc (CLE) until its sale to Intercontinental Exchange in July 2010. CLE operates the European Climate Exchange, the Chicago Climate Exchange and the Chicago Climate Futures Exchange.
"I have been a keen follower of the IDEACarbon activities and those of the Carbon Ratings Agency since inception; as Lord Stern has said:.. if we are to attract the levels of finance necessary to make carbon, energy and environmental markets mainstream and effective, risks must be clearly understood, articulated, and managed".
"Having used and tested IDEACarbon's analytical products and ratings, I believe these products are vital to transform the scale of energy efficiency, carbon and renewables finance to levels which can help China, India and the West meet their stated goals. From my work at the Climate Exchange and in insurance, I recognise IDEACarbon's CARBONrisk platform asone which contains rigour to institutional standards on which the private sector and multilateral agencies have been waiting to move climate finance towards the mainstream of finance. My work at IDEACarbon will focus on strategic relationships and corporate finance to scale the platform's use globally".
In welcoming Mr Eckert to the Advisory Board, Shandi Modi, founder of IDEAGlobal Group said "I've known Neil for several years and regard him to be 'the' outstanding success in helping with the creation of the largest and most effective markets in carbon and emissions. Neil combines deep institutional finance knowledge, which he now applies to environmentalmarkets. IDEACarbon is very pleased to welcome Neil to its Advisory Board, I am sure his work will contribute valuably to our goals to provide the global community the products necessary to manage risks, make investments, and to create institutional products for climate finance".
