The Board of Directors of the Bilbao stock exchange, a BME subsidiary, has appointed Manuel Ardanza as the new Executive Chairman of the Bilbao Stock Exchange, replacing the deceased José Luis Marcaida.
Ardanza joined the governing body of the stock exchange in March 1990; he worked as Director of Supervision and Market; later on as Deputy General Manager and in 2014 he was appointed General Manager and Director. He is also a member of the Boards of the Sociedad de Bolsas, the MAB market and the Spanish Derivatives market, MEFF.
Prior to joining the Bilbao Stock Exchange, Ardanza worked as a lawyer and corporate advisor, also acting as a legal Adviser, helping to draft the bylaws of the Entidad de Previsión Social Voluntaria Juan Urrutia and as Secretary General of the Collective Agreement of Iberduero. He is regarded as an outstanding figure in the area of stock exchange law and has furthered his educational vocation teaching financial law at the Deusto University.
