The Securities & Investment Institute (SII) is pleased to announce that it is launching its International Certificate of Investment Management (ICertIM) in Chinese in Beijing and Shanghai in the week of the 1 June. This is to mark the occasion of the visit to China of the Lord Mayor of London, Ian Luder, and his financial delegation, which includes the CEO of the SII, Simon Culhane, FSI.
The ICertIM is a key qualification for staff working in banks and securities houses. It was translated into Chinese by the Shenzhen branch of Shenzhen Financial Engineering School, Nankai University, and will also be taught by them in China. The ICertIM examination can be sat in China at specified examination centres in most major Chinese cities. It reflects the SII’s continuing commitment to providing training and qualifications in China, which are increasingly important in the world’s turbulent financial markets. ICertIM is targeted at professionals engaged in managing investments. It has been designed to provide a test of competence for individuals working in private client asset management (discretionary portfolio management) and fund management. It provides a firm grasp of the different asset classes and financial markets as well as the underpinning disciplines of economics, financial mathematics and accounting.
ICertIM also provides coverage of the main tools of investment management: investment analysis, portfolio management and performance measurement, helping candidates prepare for the industry issues they are likely to encounter.
SII CEO Simon Culhane said: “We are extremely proud at the SII to have worked closely with Shenzhen Financial Engineering School, Nankai University in producing the materials for the ICertIM in Chinese. We have also been encouraged by the China Securities Regulatory Commission to offer our qualifications in China as an internationally accepted addition to those provided by the Securities Association of China. We believe they will be of great use in developing Shanghai as a world financial centre. They will also assist staff at those Chinese companies which are currently looking to undertake M&A, FDI and IPOs in the UK and Europe.”
The SII has been present in China since late 2007, when the previous Lord Mayor formally opened its offices. Its Manager for Greater China (including both Taiwan and Hong Kong) is Rachel ZHU Yihua, based in the Pudong financial District of Shanghai.
