The International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) has given its Committee 7 on Commodity Derivatives a mandate to research the potential effects of storage infrastructure on the integrity of the price formation process of commodity derivatives in member jurisdictions.
The first stage in the Committee’s work has been to develop a questionnaire as a way to gather information to inform its research. IOSCO is asking its members to respond to the questionnaire and to encourage other relevant entities in their jurisdictions (storage and market infrastructure providers, market participants and end users) to do so as well. There are no restrictions on who can answer the questionnaire.
IOSCO believes that the questionnaire is a fundamental part of its work in this area, as it will inform its thinking going forward.
To help respondents complete the questionnaire, Committee 7 has divided the questions into a number of chapters focusing on different aspects of the storage infrastructure environment. At a minimum, the Committee asks that respondents complete those chapters as they are set out in the table in the introductory section. However, respondents are welcome to answer all or part of this questionnaire as they wish.
The questionnaire does not have to be completed in one session; responses can be saved and respondents can log back in at a later date.
Committee 7 has set up an online survey, which can be accessed by creating login details on the following signup page: https://www.iosco.org/surveys/2014-Storage-Infrastructure/?page=signup
The closing date for responses is 31 October 2014. Responses will be published on the IOSCO website.
