Against a background of tremendous change in the world’s £6bn ($12bn) exchange industry, more than 200 senior executives will meet today, at the Exchange Forum in London, to discuss the future of exchanges, trading technology and regulation. The event is being organised by exchange industry specialists Mondo Visione.
Herbie Skeete ( left ) Mondo Visione, founder and managing director, today launches the inaugural Exchange Forum with Dr Benn Steil ( right ) Forum chair, to discuss the future of the world's £6bn exchange industry, including trading technology and regulation. |
The Exchange Forum has attracted speakers and delegates from the world’s leading stock and derivatives exchanges, trading firms and regulators who will participate in interactive panel discussions as well as informal seminars and meetings.
Sir Nigel Wicks, Chairman of Euroclear; Jim Newsome, President and Chief Executive of Nymex; Chris Hohn, Founder and Managing Director of the Children’s Investment Fund; David Krell, President and Chief Executive of International Securities Exchange; and Andreas Preuss, Chief Executive of Eurex will be joined by the cream of the exchange and wider securities industry in a dynamic conference setting.
The Exchange Forum will be chaired by Dr Benn Steil, Senior Fellow and Director of International Economics at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York, and promises to provide invaluable insights into the challenges and opportunities facing the industry.
Dr Steil said: “Understanding the new world of exchanges is too important for the old world of conferences – boring speeches interspersed with caffeine and marketing pitches. The Exchange Forum sets a new standard, creating a genuine dialogue between market leaders from around the globe. This is the Davos of exchanges, sans Angelina Jolie.”
Herbie Skeete, Founder and Managing Director of Mondo Visione said: “The Exchange Forum was developed to bring together, for the first time, exchanges, regulators and the wider investment community to share information, discuss issues, review how they trade and settle, and develop new business. This is the first in what we hope will be an annual event.”
“While exchanges focus technology efforts on driving trading times down from milli to micro-seconds, new institutional trading platforms are going for size rather than speed, executing 100 times larger trades. Exchanges are continually changing with the development of new and innovative technology, as well as increased governance and transparency in reporting standards.”
The Exchange Forum is being held at the Riverbank Park Plaza Hotel, London, on 24th and 25th May. Topics to be discussed will include stock and derivatives exchanges, the buy- and sell-side, clearing and settlement, trading technology and regulation.
