The monthly volume on EEX’s power derivatives market, amounted to 281.8 terawatt hours (TWh) in November 2015 which is an increase of 59% compared to November 2014 (177.3 TWh).
By that, EEX has reached another monthly record on the power derivatives market. In particular, new records for the German (178.0 TWh), Italian (54.1 TWh), French (36.5 TWh) and Spanish (3.8 TWh) market areas contributed to this result.
The November volumes comprised 168.0 TWh registered at EEX for clearing. Clearing and settlement of all transactions was executed by European Commodity Clearing (ECC).
Emission Allowances
On the EEX Market for emission allowances, a total volume of 70.4 million tonnes of CO2 was traded in November, which is an increase of 74% compared to the previous year (November 2014: 40.4 million tonnes of CO2). In November, primary market auctions contributed 54.5 million tonnes of CO2to the total volume. On the EUA derivatives market, EEX reached the highest monthly volume since March 2014 at 11.0 million tonnes of CO2.
Agricultural Products
In November, 3,862 contracts were traded in agricultural products at EEX. This includes 1,246 contracts (equal to 6,230 tonnes) from Skimmed Milk Powder futures, doubling the record volume of the previous month (October 2015: 623 contracts).
The total dairy sector recorded a volume of 1,579 contracts (equal to 7,895 tonnes) in November. The volume from trading in Processing Potatoes comprised 2,283 contracts (equal to 57,075 tonnes).
New Participants
In November, EEX admitted Amsterdam Capital Trading B.V., Amsterdam, and TrailStone Commodity Trading UK Ltd, London, as new trading participants. Furthermore, Citigroup Global Markets Ltd., London, RWE Supply & Trading GmbH, Essen, TFS Derivatives Ltd., London, and Tullett Prebon (Securities) Limited, London, were admitted to the UK Power Futures market. In total, 14 participants are admitted to this product which EEX launched on 16 November.
