Today, the European Energy Exchange (EEX) has conducted the first primary market auction of EU allowances (EUAs) on behalf of the Republic of Poland.
The volume of 3,661,000 EU allowances was auctioned off as planned on the Spot Market. The total amount of bids was 8,340,000 EUAs. Therefore, participants demanded more than twice the auction volume. 17 companies took part in the auction with the price determined at EUR 5.42 per EUA.
In 2013, the volume to be auctioned off on behalf of the Republic of Poland comprises approximately 51 million EUAs. Starting today, the Polish auctions will be held on a weekly basis on Monday afternoons with a two-hour bidding window open from 1 pm to3 pm CET.
