Omran: the Australian investments exceed $ 1.3 Trillion and Egypt portion is only LE 12 million Omran: we are performing efforts in restoring foreign investments to maintain the market’ liquidity AS per the Egyptian Exchange (EGX)’ efforts to restore foreign investments, Dr. Mohammad Omran, EGX Chairman and Mr. Neil Hawkins, Ambassador of Australia in Cairo, met to discuss ways to increase the Australian investments into the Egyptian economy and The Egyptian Exchange, where they reviewed the efforts performed to improve the investment climate in addition to the developments witnessed by EGX in the recent years. From his part, Dr. Omran said that Australia is one of the important investment partners that we should pay attention for, as the Australian investments outside Australia are more than $ 1.3 Trillion, while Egypt portion of those investments during the last fiscal year was just LE 12 Million, also Australia investment portion in EGX is about 0.05% of trading. Omran pointed that the emerging markets’ conditions dominated the meeting, specially in light of the local and regional economic challenges, also the cooperation in supporting small and medium enterprises was discussed. Omran disclosed that EGX’ trend to attract foreign investments mainly targets to attract more liquidity to the market and thus to support companies and help them to expand and grow, stressing that supporting companies helps to strengthen the economy as a whole, therefore to achieve the best performance of the Stock Exchange. |
