The constituent companies of MidCap+ and SmallCap+ segments, the Copenhagen Stock Exchange and Jøp, Ove & Myrthu A/S have decided to close down Plus-Portal.dk by the end of September 2006. Plus-Portal.dk was launched in February 2004, and the number of registered companies has since then been approx. 25.
The companies pay a fee for being registered on the Plus-Portalen, which has doubled the number of daily users since its launch. However, the portal has never quite gained the ground and had the penetration power one might have expected from an editorial portal with a highly serious and readable content. Thus, a collective decision was made to close down the Plus-Portalen. The portal will be closed down at the end of September as the Nordic list is going to be introduced on October 2. The Nordic list provides investors and companies with a new all-in Nordic investment universe, which will increase exposure and liquidity in companies listed on the exchanges in Copenhagen, Stockholm and Helsinki.
The MidCap+ and SmallCap+ segments will continue with a few minor adjustments, when the Nordic list becomes a reality in October.
”Plus-Portal.dk has been an essential element in rendering MidCap+ and SmallCap+ more visible and in boosting interest in the two segments among investors, though it has not quite gained the ground and had the penetration power we all had hoped for. It is the right decision to discontinue the activities on the portal at the same time as we launch the Nordic list. We have been very pleased with the cooperation with Jøp, Ove & Myrthu”, says Deputy President Jan Ovesen, Copenhagen Stock Exchange.
On October 2, 2006, OMX is going to launch the Nordic list, which presents all listed companies in Stockholm, Helsinki and Copenhagen on one single list. The list presents the companies in a uniform way so that it will be easier to benchmark Nordic investment openings.
OMX’s Nordic list comprises just under 600 companies listed on the exchanges in Copenhagen, Stockholm and Helsinki. The list includes three segments across the exchanges: Large Cap, Mid Cap and Small Cap – based on market capitalization.
