Liana Bailey-Crimmins, California Public Employees' System (CalPERS) Chief Information Officer, is recipient of the 2015 CIO of the Year Award. In presenting the award, the California CIO Academy recognized Bailey-Crimmins for outstanding leadership, innovative solutions, and strategies to promote information sharing and collaboration.
"Liana demonstrates a creative, dynamic, and inspirational leadership style that truly deserves this level of important recognition," said Anne Stausboll, CalPERS Chief Executive Officer.
Bailey-Crimmins joined CalPERS as Chief Information Officer in August of 2013 to oversee the six divisions of the Information Technology Services Branch. She has over 25 years of public sector technology experience and previously served as the information technology director and CIO of California Correctional Health Care Services.
The California CIO Academy also honored four staff members of the CalPERS Information Technology Services Branch (ITSB) with IT Leadership Awards. George Akiyama, Dirk Benson, Bhaskar Rudrakshala, and Andrea Spears were cited for demonstrating exceptional leadership, customer service, and public stewardship.
The California CIO Academy addresses important policy, management and leadership issues surrounding the future of digital government and the role of the public sector CIO in the State of California.
