Exchange Traded Funds are open-ended investment funds, with units traded on the stock market. ETFs allow participants to invest in a diversified stock portfolio with a single transaction. As investors in an ETF are allowed to own the stocks that make up the fund’s index portfolio, they need not buy the securities of various companies. Currently, the Brazilian Exchange trades the BOVA11, SMAL11, MILA11, and PIBB11 funds, which follow the Ibovespa, Small Cap, MidLarge Cap, and IBr-X indexes, respectively.
