- Number of companies authorizing publication of questionnaire answers rises from 14 to 22
- Three sectors join the portfolio
- Combined market capitalization rises from 44.81% to 47.16%
BM&FBOVESPA announced on November 28 the ninth portfolio of the Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE), effective from January 06, 2014 to January 02, 2015. The new portfolio is composed of 51 stocks of 40 companies. They represent 18 sectors and have a combined market capitalization of BRL 1.14 trillion, or 47.16% of the combined figure for all of the companies traded on BM&FBOVESPA (based on the close of trading on November 26, 2013).
Of the 37 companies in the current portfolio (2013), 36 have also been selected for the new one (2014). Four companies have debuted on ISE for 2014: Cielo, Embraer, Fleury and Klabin, bringing three new sectors to ISE: Diverse Financial Services; Transport Material; and Medical, Hospital, Analysis and Diagnostic Services.
In all, 22 of the 40 companies in the new portfolio have authorized the publication of their answers to the questionnaire, against 14 out of 37 last year. The 22 companies are AES Tietê, Banco do Brasil, BicBanco, CCR, Cemig, Cielo, Coelce, Copasa, Copel, Duratex, EDP, Eletrobras, Eletropaulo, Even, Itaú-Unibanco, Itausa, Klabin, Light, Natura, SulAmerica, Vale and WEG.
This year the ISE process once again included KPMG validation, which helped grant even more credibility to the procedures.
The 183 companies with the 200 most liquid stocks on the Exchange in December 2012 were invited to join the new portfolio. Of this group of companies, 45 signed up to compete for a place on the portfolio, while four adhered to the trainees’ process, preparing themselves for the coming years.
