  • Nymex President Commends AGA On Earlier Storage Data Release

    R. Patrick Thompson, president of the New York Mercantile Exchange, today commended the American Gas Association (AGA) for its announcement that, effective March 1, it would begin releasing gas storage data earlier on Wednesdays to coincide with open outcry trading hours. The AGA currently releases the previous week's information on working gas in storage every Wednesday between 4 and 4:45 P.M. It announced last week that it intended to begin making this information available between 2 and 2:1

  • New Volume Records Set In CME'S E-mini Equity Index Contracts

    Continued volatility in the U.S. stock market fueled new trading volume records yesterday in the Chicago Mercantile Exchange's E-mini S&P 500®and E-mini Nasdaq 100® contracts. Volume in the E-mini Nasdaq 100 totaled 19,889, besting the prior record of 17,930 set Jan. 25 by nearly 2,000 contracts, or roughly 11 percent.

  • MEFF New Trading Hours

    To coincide with the extension of trading hours on the Spanish stock market (9:00-17:00), as from 17 January opening times for IBEX-35 futures and options trading are now 9:00-17:35.

  • MEFF BONO-10 Relaunch Plan

    MEFF is working with Market Members on a plan of action to relaunch the Bono-10 future. It is studying ways of improving the quality of pricing (through market-making incentives and improved order placement equipment and software) and attracting clients through better pricing and a specific marketing plan.

  • In Senate Testimony, Nymex Chairman Expresses Concern Over Disparities in President's Working Group Report

    New York Mercantile Exchange Chairman Daniel Rappaport today testified before the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, expressing disappointment that "while recommending additional regulatory relief for over-the-counter (OTC) markets, the report (on OTC derivatives and the Commodity Exchange Act by the President's Working Group on Financial Markets) does not directly address the long-standing regulatory dilemmas faced by U.S. futures exchanges.

Bonos-10 futures traded 157,005 contracts, IBEX-35 futures traded 439,725 contracts, IBEX-35 options traded 87,093 contracts and options on shares 563,574 contracts. The most actively traded options in the month: Telefónica (285,667contracts), BBV (66,236), Endesa (66,217), BSCH (64,838), Repsol (27,756) and Iberdrola (20,430).
